Prof. Jeffrey V. Lazarus, PhD, MIH, MA

Jeffrey V. Lazarus is on the faculty of the Barcelona Institute of Global Health (ISGlobal), Hospital Clínic, University of Barcelona, and CHIP, the WHO Collaborating Centre on HIV and Viral Hepatitis at Rigshospitalet, the University of Copenhagen. Prior to that, his decade-long career as a health systems and communicable diseases expert at WHO’s Regional Office for Europe was followed by three years at the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

He is a founding steering committee member of the multistakeholder ACHIEVE hepatitis elimination initiative (2017), the HIV in Europe Initiative (2007) and the HIV Outcomes Beyond Viral Suppression coalition (2016). He also serves as the Board Chair of the foundation AFEW International, a Board member of the EASL International Liver Foundation, and a steering committee member of the European Commission’s two Joint Actions on HIV, hepatitis and other coinfections. He is the author of more than 200 publications. In 2017, he was awarded The Economist Intelligence Unit Hepatitis C Changemaker award.
